When we founded Bridgewell Financial, we wanted to accomplish a few goals. Key among them: reinforcing the importance of wellness across the financial services industry, while also delivering a premium level of service to our clients. Doing so meant bringing aboard professionals who shared our firm’s core values and were committed to going above and beyond to meet our clients’ needs. We also wanted people who were committed to making an impact by supporting important charities and social causes. We’ve been extremely lucky to bring together exactly that kind of team, watching them grow in their careers as they’ve helped to shape our firm.
In the fourth installment of our Meet the Bridgewell Team blog series, we introduce you to another one of those professionals: Group Benefits Account Manager Justin Kishurilall. Justin joined Bridgewell in 2024 and immediately made his presence felt. Here, he outlines his professional experience, explains why he was drawn to Bridgewell and shares his passion for sports—not to mention a little weekend antiquing.
Can you provide a few details about your professional background?
I studied international business at Centennial College before starting my career in financial services. That included stops at major national insurance and group benefits providers, before joining Bridgewell.
What brought you to Bridgewell?
Initially when I learned about the company, I was intrigued by what the partners wanted to do in the community, and their background as athletes—as distance runners, cyclists and more. At the time, I was trying to transition back into group benefits and was looking for new opportunities. I came across the company’s profile and knew this was the place I wanted to be. When I’m looking at potential employers, I always look for the right career fit, along with a good atmosphere and workplace energy. At Bridgewell, I felt real positivity and the desire to move forward and grow the company. So far, I’ve really enjoyed the culture and the connection with different partners and team members.
How do you support Bridgewell on a daily basis?
I’m an account manager, so I make sure that we’re not just delivering group benefits solutions to our clients, but also providing a high touch service experience. I liaise with our clients, especially when plan renewal dates are approaching. Our mandate is to make sure that we’re constantly in touch with the client, understanding what could affect their benefits, and making sure they get the benefits they need or want. We’re committed to reaching out proactively to see how their plan is performing and to let them know what new solutions might be available to them. That also includes negotiating with the carrier to make sure the client is getting the best coverage at the best possible rates.
We spend a lot of time answering any questions our clients may have, along with any issues their employees may be experiencing. If there’s a gap in coverage, we work to bridge it. One way we do that is by helping them understand the benefit services and partnerships we have with organizations like Rexall and PocketPills. Those advantages are built into our plans, but our clients often aren’t always aware of them from a human resources standpoint. That’s why we have resources like HR Hub to get them updated documents and to let them know about their group benefits options.
What do you think is unique about Bridgewell’s service offering and culture?
My role is expanding every day. What’s unique is that we’re all about providing solutions. What’s also different is how well management treats our clients and our team members. They really live their values and have worked to build an inclusive working environment. For example, the resources they provide to make sure our team members’ mental health and wellness is cared for is very different than what’s offered by other companies. They also want our team to take advantage of our wellness benefits—everything from our core group benefits to weekly wellness walks. They even schedule regular meetings throughout the week with team members to make sure we have everything we need to do our jobs. You don’t find that level of care in most other workplaces.
What do you like to do away from the office?
I’m a huge fan of the four major sports. I’m a Broncos fan, but my number one love is Soccer Canada. I follow our national team with a passion on the global stage. I also bike, enjoy playing sports from basketball and soccer to baseball and football, not to mention going to the gym. When I’m not playing or following sports, I love hanging out with my mom and daughters. My mom introduced me to antiquing, so we go to garage sales together looking for interesting antique items to collect.
