Yohan Roche

One of our founding goals at Bridgewell Financial was to ensure that our core values were built into every aspect of our firm. That included delivering comprehensive group benefits, personal and corporate insurance, wealth and financial planning and executive planning and group benefits solutions, developing an industry-leading customer service experience and offering a rewarding workplace culture. One of those core values was the idea that financial success is really about achieving wellness in all aspects of our lives. That was a novel concept at the time, one that we’ve worked hard to reinforce in the years since. We’re very proud to say that the idea has since taken hold, with many of our industry colleagues embracing the importance of financial well-being. So have our team members.

One is Bridgewell Client Service Coordinator Yohan Roche. In this fifth installment of our Meet the Bridgewell Team blog series, Yohan will share details about his personal and professional background as he outlines a financial services journey that would eventually bring him to Bridgewell. Not surprisingly, that trail was blazed by shared values and a belief in the potential of financial services firms to have a profound impact on the personal and professional success of their clients.

Can you provide a few details about your background?

I attended Carleton University and earned a Bachelor of Art degree in Global and International Studies and Global Politics. I’ve worked as a case administrator at a major national insurance firm, and on the patient service side at a large health network in the Greater Toronto Area. Both roles involved managing high volumes of communications and delivering a superior level of customer support, consistently meeting quality and production metrics and supporting the organization’s strict service standards.

What brought you to Bridgewell?

I had some insurance experience at a large company, but it was an administrative role that involved processing quotes and data entry. I wanted to explore a different side of the insurance field and my position at Bridgewell gave me a good opportunity to interact with clients, which I enjoy doing. I also saw my role at Bridgewell as an opportunity for me to grow as a professional, so it fit multiple categories of goals that I wanted to achieve. A family friend knew one of the partners at Bridgewell, introduced us and my career at the firm started from there.

How do you support Bridgewell on a daily basis?

I mostly work to help integrate new clients within our insurance practice. That involves collecting relevant information from our clients and sending it on to the correct parties, checking applications for any necessary updates and processing that information, while also making sure that our insurance clients’ needs are met. A major part of my role is also checking insurance application status, moving policies through the approval process and supporting our team members.

What do you think is unique about Bridgewell’s service offering and culture?

On a personal level, I want to help people anyway I can, and in my career that means serving our clients’ financial needs. I think I’m a really strong communicator, I have the confidence to ask for information when I need to get things done and I’m a really good team player, working and communicating with others to accomplish our goals. Bridgewell has created an atmosphere where I can not only bring these skills to work every day, but they offer our entire team the support we need to do our best work every day. They’ve worked to build their values into the business, like focusing on wellness and empathizing with clients to the understand their financial situation, and they make it possible for me to bring those same values and qualities to my work.

What do you like to do away from the office?

I love playing sports, working out and staying active. I used to play competitive soccer, volleyball, tennis and softball and I enjoy watching hockey and baseball. I have a dog—a chocolate Labrador Retriever—that keeps me very busy. He’s nearly three years old and has a lot of energy.
